Overview

The Medicine Department manages all kinds of medical problems in adult patients within Nagaland, and the neighboring states as well. The department provides comprehensive services through an efficient team of dedicated doctors and staff.
Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Sedevi Angami, the department has progressed immensely, and is presently able to cater to most medical needs, including super specialty care.
The department has also been accreditated by National Board of Examination, New Delhi to start Post Graduate program for DNB Medicine.

Services

1. Diagnostic & therapeutic services
  • Gastroenterology:
    • Upper GI endoscopy (both diagnostic and therapeutic)
    • Colonoscopy (both diagnostic and therapeutic)
    • ERCP
  • Cardiology:
    • Echocardiography
    • Treadmill Test (TMT)
    • Holter
  • Pulmonology:
    • Bronchoscopy
    • Pulmonary Function Test
  • Nephrology:
    • Hemodialysis
    • Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD)

    2. Dietary

    Dietary and nutritional consultation for patients who require dietary advice by a well-qualified dietician.

    3. Patient Education

    Dedicated nurse educators are available for educating and training patients on diabetes, various kidney diseases, hemodialysis and CAPD, TB , HIV, Liver diseases etc.

    4. In-Patient Service

    Dedicated doctors and nurses trained in critical care, medical oncology, psychiatric nursing, counseling, and technicians for hemodialysis are available for in-patient care.

    5. Health packages

    A “ Master Health Check” facility is also available for those individuals who desire to have a comprehensive check up done. The following packages are available:

Training and academics

In an effort to stay updated, the department continues to attend several conferences. They also conduct seminars and journal clubs regularly. The consultants of this department have also been involved as resource persons in several Continuing Medical Education as well.

Networking with NGOs

The Medicine Department has worked in collaboration with various NGOs to conduct health camps in Eastern Nagaland, and Ukhrul, Manipur. Some consultants have also been sent on deputation to help different mission hospitals around India in the past. Doctors from various mission hospitals have been trained in Upper GI endoscopy by Dr. Sedevi Angami.
