The Learning & Development Unit (LDU), established in November 2024, is CIHSR’s central platform for capacity building, training, and holistic staff development. It integrates institutional learning initiatives across departments to ensure a structured, strategic approach to workforce development.

  • Conduct comprehensive history-taking, physical assessment, and staging for physician documentation and reporting
  • Interpret X-rays, CT, MRI, biopsy, and laboratory results to guide patient care
  • Identify oncological emergencies early — spinal cord compression, brain metastasis, SVC syndrome — and assist the physician in management
  • Administer medications for cancer patients, including analgesics, opioids, and chemotherapy, as advised by the treating doctor
  • Perform chemo-port needle insertion and cancer wound dressing, and assist with pleurocentesis and ascitic tapping

Wound Technician Course (In-house)

A one-year, in-house diploma course equipping students with essential skills in wound healing, dressing selection, infection prevention, and safe equipment handling, alongside effective communication and teamwork. Originally developed for experienced Surgical department Hospital Assistants, the course is now open more broadly given demand. Graduates work under the mentorship of qualified medical personnel, applying evidence-based guidelines to improve care efficiency.
