Biomedical engineering is the application of engineering principles to the fields of biology and health care. Bio-medical engineers work with doctors, therapists, and researchers to develop systems, maintain equipment and devices in order to solve clinical-related problems.

In CIHSR, the bio-medical engineering department does the following:

a) Install, adjust, maintain, repair, or provide technical support for biomedical equipment with suitable periodic preventive maintenance and calibration with national/international traceability either in-house or externally.

b) Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment.

The department always tries to achieve a target of 99.9% equipment availability and a goal for uninterrupted services to patient care at all times.

Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Sedevi Angami, the department has progressed immensely and is presently able to cater to most medical needs, including super specialty care.
The department has also been accreditated by the National Board of Examination, New Delhi to start Post Graduate program for DNB Medicine.
