The Department of General Surgery department is a robust and vibrant department consisting of 4 Consultant General Surgeons who are highly qualified and well supported by one Senior Resident, 6 DNB Post Graduate students, and other surgical staff who work 24 x 7 to ensure high-quality care to surgical admitted in the hospital which includes various open and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgeries.

The service of a General Surgeon is available round the clock to attend to any surgical emergencies in the hospital.

The department is recognized by the National Board of Education for giving post-graduate training (DNB) to doctors in the field of General Surgery. The department is also visited by Dr. Lionel Gnanaraj (Former HOD of Urology and Medical Superintendent at CMC Vellore) and Dr. Jacob Chacko, former HoD, of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, CMC Vellore who hold regular surgical camps for patients.
