This critical care transport service is an initiative of the pediatric intensive care unit which started in the year 2022. This is a retrieval services which performs level 3 transport within Dimapur. The transport is carried out by a team comprising of an PALS trained nurses and medics. The SPARROW is well equipped with an ALS ambulance, transport ventilator, and a crash bag comprising of all acute care equipments and drugs.
Children’s Intensive Care Unit (CICU): The CICU is a critical care ward for children located on the first floor of the hospital, and provides the following services
The PICU is a dedicated 8-bedded unit, looked after by a team comprising a Pediatric intensivist, pediatric consultants, postgraduate pediatric trainees (DNB), PICU/NICU trained nurses, and hospital assistants. All beds are equipped with multipara monitors, ventilators; central supply of oxygen, medical air and suction. The unit is also equipped with central monitoring system. This is the largest and at present the only dedicated PICU in the state of Nagaland.
The unit focuses on providing standard, holistic, and evidence-based care to all patients, and ensures in treating all patients and their relatives with dignity and respect. The unit strictly practices hand hygiene and anti-septic non-touch technique (ANTT) to prevent hospital-acquired infection. The unit is well trained and equipped to manage critically unwell children, including surgical and trauma cases, from the age of 1 month up to 16 years of age. The services by the PICU provided are:
The NICU is a dedicated 6-bedded unit, well trained and equipped to manage sick newborns, including extremely premature and/or low birth weight babies.
