Why Happy Smiles?

Happy Smiles programme at CIHSR Surgery Department, Dimapur is all about helping underprivileged cleft lip and palate children from Nagaland and nearby areas of Assam and neighboring areas. This is the first homegrown smile programme for cleft lip and palate children.

The Problem in Nagaland and surrounding states:

Most of the children with cleft lip condition come from lower socio economic backgrounds. Some are stateless and without any sponsors, even for basic treatment. The parents are mostly daily wage laborers, living a hand to mouth existence. These children are vulnerable in society and are often teased because of their condition. Their future looks bleak without corrective management.
