Diagnostic and interventional radiology plays a central role in patient care in any modern hospital. Christian institute of health sciences and research provides a quality service in the field of radiography. Radiology deals in a vast array of human anatomy, physiology, radiology is diagnostic as well as therapeutic , diagnostic radiography in today’s modern medicine have becomes a necessity in any primary health sector as it deals with the primary diagnosis of any ailments.

Radiology covers diagnostic means namely CT scan, ultrasound, fluoroscopy and plain radiography. departments like urology are covered mainly by lithotripsy which is a therapeutic procedure for breaking calculus (kidney stones) and also by a diagnostic procedure called IVU which helps in the study of the collecting system. departments of the reproductive medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology mainly uses the means of fluoroscope which gives a real time imaging.

The Christian institute of health sciences and research offers a two year diploma course in radio diagnosis technology course know as the diploma in radio diagnostic technology (DRT) which was started in 2011 under the paramedical sciences programme. The course is approved by the Christian medical association of India (CMAI ). The first 3 batch have graduated, the basic qualification to undergo the training is 10 +2 (science) or equivalent qualification.

CIHSR offers the students not only the knowledge within the course but also stresses on imparting and exposing the students to the many aids used in the emergency and critical medicines so that the students are not only been taught but are also made to practice the basic life sciences

Unique Service Offered

  • Lithotripsy / ESWL (Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy), this is a non-invasive treatment of kidney stones using an acoustic pulse, the procedure is an attempt to break up the stone with minimal collateral damage using an externally applied force focussed, high-intensity acoustic pulse. A fluoroscopic x-rays imaging system or an ultrasound imaging system is used to locate the stone, ESWl is the least invasive of the commonplace modalities for definitive stone treatment but provides a lower stone-free rate than other more invasive treatment methods such as PCNC, URS, etc.
  • Orthopantogram (OPG ), is a machine that takes a panoramic view of the 32 teach in a single exposure or single film.
