CIHSR has no restriction policy on our patients’ visitors during the normal circumstances. We know that visits from our near and dear ones provide support and reassurance for patients and families alike.
But the COVID-19 pandemic is a difficult time for all of us. We must do everything we can to prevent the spread of this disease and protect our patients, staff and visitors.
In order to do this, our new visitor policy puts strong limits on visitors entering our hospitals and care facilities during this pandemic. As per the latest policy, only one attendant will be allowed to accompany patients coming for check-ups and only two attendants will be allowed for the admitted patients.
Out Patient Departments:
Our OPDs are functioning as usual but we advise all patients to visit the hospital only if you are very sick and need urgent medical care.
Some of the OPDs are relocated so as to cater the needs of the patients while following the scale down policy of the working staffs. It might create some inconveniences for the patients and visitors but this is done to ensure safety for all.
All patients and visitors will be screened for COVID-19 at the entry points of the hospital. This screening includes asking you:
- Presenting symptoms: Fever, Breathing difficulty, Chest pain
- Any history of travel in the past 1 month?
- Contact with anyone who traveled recently (within 1 month)
- Previous history of: Asthma, Allergy, Recurrent chest pain
- Any Medical attention taken before?
There is a flu clinic in the screening area at the hospital entrance where patients with flu-like symptoms, such as fever and cough will be treated. Any patients having symptoms similar to COVID 19 will be referred to District Hospital Dimapur as we do not have the facilities for collecting the sample to be send for testing COVID 19.
Should all patients be wearing masks?
Patients with symptoms suggesting possible COVID-19 or other respiratory illness will be provided a face mask and placed into isolation precautions, per our existing policies.
How long will this visitor policy last?
We cannot predict exactly how long active transmission of the COVID-19 might last, so we must wait and monitor its progress before we can make changes to the visitor policy.
Are there COVID-19 patients at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR)?
We understand that patients, visitors, staff want to know whether patients with COVID-19 are being treated at CIHSR hospitals. As of now, we are not a designated hospital for the same.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Testing Referrals
CIHSR is not a currently designated COVID testing centre. Any patients who have symptoms similar to COVID 19 infection after screening will be referred to the District Hospital Dimapur for testing. Home quarantine educational pamphlet will be given to the patient.
